Mr. Riveria graduated with his B.A. from the University of Nebraska in 2002. In 2006, he received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. After graduating, Mr. Riveria assisted with the recovery from Hurricane Katrina as an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Fellow. Since 2011, Mr. Riveria has worked in the area of education law. As an attorney with a parent training and information center, he represented clients on educational matters including school discipline, special education, and juvenile law. In this position, he also trained parents on education laws, influenced education policy, and co-wrote a comprehensive guide to the local school discipline process. He later worked for the United States Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights. In this role, he conducted more than 80 school civil rights investigations on issues including disability accommodations, different treatment, harassment, retaliation, athletic equity, and discrimination in school discipline. Mr. Riveria is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, and is licensed to practice in Nebraska.
