Thomas “Tommy” Moore Hayes IV is a third-generation attorney in Monroe, Louisiana, where he maintains a diverse civil litigation practice. Tommy began his legal career in 2003. After graduating from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert School of Law and passing the bar exam, he joined the New Orleans firm of Porteous, Hainkel and Johnson L.L.P. as an associate. He returned Monroe in 2005, joining his family firm of Hayes, Harkey, Smith and Cascio LLP as an associate, becoming a partner in 2011. In 2023, Hayes Harkey was acquired by the Baton Rouge law firm of Hammonds, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah, & Perkins, where Tommy has proudly joined the ranks of attorneys providing services throughout the State of Louisiana. Prior to law school, he obtained his B.A. from the University of Richmond in 2000, majoring in English with a minor in Religion.
Tommy has served as a hearing committee chairman for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board, a chairman for the Louisiana Bar Foundation Community Partnership Panel, and as president of his local bar association. He has served as the President of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and a member of a Task Force on Statewide Standards for Clerks of Court Electronic Filing and Records Retention.
Tommy and his wife Meredith have been married since 2003, and today they are dedicated parents to their three boys. The family is actively involved with Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where Tommy serves as an usher and lector.
Outside of work, Tommy stays busy with his children’s sports activities, serving as their volunteer coach in baseball, soccer, basketball and tennis. Tommy is a lifelong avid tennis player and outdoorsman, and he enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time.
